Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about hurricane panels, shutter systems, ordering, installation and replacement parts.
Which product is the least expensive?
Galvanized steel storm panels are often the lowest-cost material option, but the final price depends on opening sizes, mounting conditions, coverage and installation. Request project-specific pricing rather than relying on a per-foot estimate.
What is the difference between steel and aluminum panels?
Steel is generally more economical and heavier. Aluminum is lighter to handle and naturally corrosion resistant, which can be valuable near the coast. Both must be installed using the applicable system and engineering.
Why would I use clear polycarbonate panels?
Clear panels allow daylight and visibility while the opening is covered. They can be used throughout a system or mixed with metal panels in selected rooms.
Do you sell directly to homeowners?
Yes. Homeowners can request material-only products, replacement components or a professionally installed system.
Do you work with builders and contractors?
Yes. HSPM supports production builders, custom builders, contractors and commercial projects with plans, takeoffs, recurring orders and installation coordination.
Can you replace one missing storm panel?
Often, yes. Send photos of the existing system, the opening measurements, panel material and mounting hardware so compatibility can be reviewed.
Do you install Bahama and accordion shutters?
Yes. HSPM offers professional installation for Bahama and accordion shutters as well as storm-panel systems.
How quickly can an order be completed?
Timing depends on the product, order size, current production schedule, required measurements and whether installation is included. Ask for the current schedule when requesting a quote.
What should I upload with a builder request?
Plans, window or door schedules, takeoffs, spreadsheets, project addresses, product preferences and required timing are all helpful.
Can existing customers submit an order online?
Yes. Use the Order Form tab to enter the customer or PO information, panel quantities and sizes, extrusion sticks, track color, requested date and supporting files. The submission is received for review and is not confirmed until HSPM acknowledges it.
Are the documents on the Engineering & Product Approvals page current?
The documents on our Engineering & Product Approvals page are intended to reflect the most current information available. Because product approvals, engineering details and installation requirements can change, always verify that you are using the latest document applicable to your specific product and installation. Contact HSPM if you need help confirming the correct document.
Have a question specific to your property?
Send photos and project details through the quote form so the answer can be based on the actual opening and system.
